Is the giant panda out of danger?

Adrian recently appeared on the radio to discuss the news that China want a reassessment of giant panda classification.

The giant panda will no longer be classified as “endangered” after its population in the wild jumped by 17 per cent in the space of a decade, Chinese officials have claimed.

Extract courtesy of the BBC website: The giant panda could soon no longer technically be classed as an endangered species. The Bear Specialist Group of The International Union for the Conservation of Nature is now carrying out an assessment of the giant panda’s status based on new figures from China. 

Adrian Cale, a wildlife filmmaker who spent time in China last year making the documentary “Panda Babies”, assess this news.
